Series Compensator for Power Distribution
The series compensator is used to enhance the terminal voltage after long-distance power transmission for corridors (10kV,35kV,66kV etc.) in order to optimize the power quality for business and civil use. Using a 35kv or 10kv power distribution as an example, the terminal voltage becomes consistently weaker, resulting in negative effects for civil use and enterprises under abnormal operations. This is attributable to the long power transmission line that outstrips normal power transmission radii. Conventional parallel capacitance compensation (pole-mounted capacitors) or regulating transformers (1:1) cannot solve the problem under such circumstances, and the compensation effect rapidly worsens as the terminal power load increases. RXPE's SC solves this by shortening the equivalent electric distance so as to enhance the power transmission line’s terminal voltage.
- Pole-mounted 10kV medium-voltage series compensator
- Container-type 10kV medium-voltage series compensator
After the SC is inserted, the terminal voltage (light load or heavy load) will remain within a qualified range, ensuring normal terminal voltage of the distribution network in remote areas. The diagram below shows voltage distribution status of Qinggouzi 10kV power distribution project (58km) in which the voltage distribution is significantly improved and line losses are significantly reduced after the SC was installed.
Operation Mode | Peak Load x70% | Peak Load x100% | Peak Load x130% |
Line active power loss without SC | 123.3Kw | 25836 Kw | 451.7 Kw |
Line active power loss with SC | 101.0 Kw | 191.3 Kw | 293.5 Kw |
Saved active power loss | 18.1% | 26.3% | 35% |
